February 2011

So I am at the end of my 2nd month with mark. I love everything about this company! Most of my sales have been to friends, family and myself(I am my best customer) but I just got my first sale to someone I do not know at all and let me tell you it was a great feeling! It was a $55.00 order but I worked for it and I am totally happy about it!  I have been doing a ton of giveaways, all product that was free to me or with very minimal cost! I have sent out a few free full size products to be reviewed by bloggers, hopefully this will generate some buzz! I also recruited a new Sales Rep which got me some goodies from my mentor (can not ait to see what she sends me) All in all I am happy with my progress, it is slow and steady! I have about 60 magalogs n the way to the ost office and I have ordered some FREE advertising products fromVISTAPRINT, for 13.00 I am getting a car magnet, 250 business cards, 25 post cards, 10 calander cards, return address  labels and a rubber stamp!  I am only paying the shipping! So yes I am in the hole but I see the light and that is what matters most!

Marketing,marketing, marketing

So here I am week 3, the orders have slowed but I saw this coming,I was a little behind schedule getting my magalogs out because my business cards took longer than I had expected! But I have everything now so this week the mailings will go out.  I REALLY want the dream trip to Miami, I sent out an email to all my friends and family letting them know that I will be fighting hard to get this trip!  I am a single mom and I work full time I NEED A VACATION but can't afford one so this would be amazing!  And because I really want this I put out the following offer....the person who refers the most friends who buy a skincare kit will come to Miami with me if I win......hello who wouldnt want to help a friend get a free trip and join them on it! Hopefully this little bribe will get them to forward the emailI sent out and get some new customers in my shop!
On the homefront things are great,my girls are amazing and had a great Christmas! Isabella didn'tquite get the concept of opening gifts but seemed happy when each gift was exposed! LOL.  Karissa had a great time at the concert, and mommy enjoyed her girls ear to ear grins! Life is great! Now time to work hard and win that trip!!!

1 Week in

I have been a mark. girl for a week and things are going pretty much as expected!  I have made three sales resulting in commissions totaling 28.20, not to shabby for simple facebook posts as advertising!  This week my business cards should arrive along with the samples and magalogs I ordered!  I also bought a mailing list for 2.10 this has about 30 usable names and address'.  I am going to stuff envelopes with a magalog, business card and a sample product tied with a pretty pink ribbon and send them off to my potential customers!  Hopefully this will generate at least one new order!  I have also sent magalogs to both my parents workplaces!  The next few weeks are all about marketing for me!  I also created a flyer with rip off tags for places that allow postings in store like my local quick stop! Not sure this will bring anyone in but it won't hurt! I will say that I love being able to do all this and still be with my girls...anyone who knows me can say without hesitation that Karissa and Isabella are my life!  Being able to show them hard work pays off will be invaluable for their futures!  Hopefully this is a lesson they will learn from my involvement with mark.  I will admit that I ordered a few things for myself and some for my 13 year old daughter, but I think wearing the product I am selling is a great marketing tool! Having Karissa wearing the make up as well may help stir up the teenager pot and have them begging mom for the best mark stuff!  Thats it for today!

Starting a new at home business

So money has been a little too tight in my house lately!  I work full time and I wasn't about to leave my two daughters and get a second job away from home! So what can I do?  Most at home jobs advertised online are just scams and I can't afford to be scammed! I did some research and decided on mark. a division of Avon! mark. is geared toward the younger generation teen though thirty somethings, I figure I have a teen daughter she has lots of friends, I have lots of friends and family in this age group, and I do not have to work a second job outside the home.  I made a small investment in my new business, the $20.00 Rep starter kit which is mosttly make up for me and some business cards 6.95 for the shipping the actual cards were free! So I am about 30.00 in debt so far. LOL, however I have made one sale after only a few days, it wasn't a huge sale but I will make 5.40 off the order! Not a cash windfall but a great boost to my confidence! I have been blowing up my facebook with ads and incentives to order from my store, hopefully people are not totally annoyed by this!  Once I get a few steady customers I'll try to post less business stuff!  As my mark. mentor says love and lipgloss!!
